Read the Blurb HERE!

Excerpt:

Ryan Morgan became aware of several things at once. The first being his body hurt like a son of a bitch. The second, he had a raging hard on and the woman that landed on him had the most luscious scent he’d ever had the pleasure to smell. And third, despite the fact that every bone in his body hurt and that he wanted to have sex in the worst way, every instinct he had insisted that he was in dire trouble.

Keeping still, he feigned unconsciousness and less his senses tell him what he needed to know. It took only seconds to discover what he needed. There were four others in the room with him. Three men and the woman he’d scented earlier. One smelled of fear, the woman. The men were foul as though they hadn’t bathed in weeks, and unfortunately, it was all too reminiscent of the years he’d spent as a prisoner of the Black Rose. He easily figured out what was going on. Now he had to come up with a plan…quickly.

Somehow, the Black Rose had captured him and the woman, or the men were in the process of trying to abduct them. Either way, he had to do something to get them out of this mess. He needed to wait until they were distracted and make his move if here were to get them out of there…hopefully in one piece. But time wasn’t on their side, not according to the struggle he could hear going on around him. The sickening smell of the men’s perverse arousal and eager malevolence even now had Ryan’s beast demanding freedom. No, they were definitely short of time.

When one of the men shoved him off the cot and on to the floor, he knew that would be the only opportunity he’d have to take the men unawares. He only hoped he could shift before too much damage happened to the female beforehand. Now that his senses were more aware he could smell their strange weapons, so if he could disarm at least one, they could perhaps fight their way out—maybe. Only time would tell. Half hidden beneath the cot, Ryan palmed the injector the female placed in his pants before silently kicking off his shoes.

Above him, the bed squeaked and the men grunted, covering the sounds as he quickly out of his pants. When the woman’s pained cry ripped through the room, time abruptly ran out and Ryan allowed his beast free, embracing the change. He could do nothing about the simmering of light that heralded his change. He only hoped the men were too distracted to pay attention to the telltale flash. In mere seconds, a full-grown, enraged, Lionese male launched itself at the males attacking its mate, not giving them even a moment to fight back. It took but a second to rip out the throat of the man that had knocked the lady doctor to the cot and still rage the likes of which Ryan had never felt before filled the Lionese male.

Using Ryan’s surprise assault on the men to get away, Liana scrambled off the bed and away from her three attackers, quickly crawling away from the tumbling mass of fighting bodies. For just an instant he wondered why she didn’t just shift but his mind quickly turned back toward one of the men who’d managed to get to his feet and turn toward the woman, a strange weapon in his hand, his intent to kill her obvious. That he couldn’t—wouldn’t—allow.

Something inside Ryan snapped. With a roar of rage, he launched himself across the distance between himself and the man determined to kill the female. In one lunge, Ryan tore the man’s back open from shoulder to ass with his claws, leaving mortal furrows down the entire length of the man’s spine. Turning, he roared a challenge to the one remaining Chantrean who was injured, but still alive, halting the male in its tracks. He had no desire to let this male live either, but first they needed answers. They needed to know who had let him into the palace grounds. Who had turned Ryan and the woman scientist over to the traitors? Once he learned that, he’d have no trouble dispatching the male to hell where he deserved. No trouble at all.

On the weekend of February 20th, the Sprite Step Off competition–the largest national step competition in history–was held in Atlanta, GA. History was made as the first all white sorority entered the competition. Historically speaking, Stepping has been a predominantly African American pasttime in Sororities and Fraternities across the nation.

Zeta Tau Alpha: Epsilon, the all white Sorority out of the University of Arkansas surprised everyone when they took first place. But their celebration was short lived. Several days later, according to Coca-Cola, the parent company of Sprite which sponsored the event, came forth and declared that the results were wrong. That a scoring discrepancy took place and that Zeta Tau Alpha: Epsilon would have to share first place with Alpha Kappa Alpha: Tau, from Indiana University, Bloomington.

Here are the two performances in question:

Alpha Kappa Alpha: Tau

Five days passed between the competition and the discovery of the scoring discrepancy came to light. Five days of protests by many that the white team should not have won, or been allowed to enter because the competition has always centered around African American talent.

I don’t know what the truth is. Was there a scoring error as Coca Cola claimed or did they bend to outside pressure and award the first place tie to an undeserving team? I wasn’t there, I didn’t see the two teams compete or see the scoring sheets. All I do know is that it shouldn’t matter what color you are or aren’t. The best team should win. Period. So, watch the above videos and come up with your own conclusion as to whether awarding the tie was reverse discrimination or simply righting a scoring mistake. What do you think?

Wow… I wanted to write about this yesterday but I didn’t for a couple reasons. 1) I wanted to wait to see if more information would come out about the cause and 2) I wanted to get my thoughts together. What about, you ask. Well the train wreck in Belgium. If you hadn’t heard and have NO idea what I’m talking about, there was a head-on collision between 2 high-speed trains in Belgium yesterday 9 miles or so outside the capitol of Brussels.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Now, nearly a day later, there still is very little information out there about this accident. I have so many questions. Somehow this accident should have been avoidable. I mean, seriously, aren’t these trains monitored by someone in some engineering office somewhere. When the other train missed his red light–if that’s what happened as is being speculated–didn’t someone think to contact the train engineer? If he couldn’t be reached, what about the other train? Couldn’t they have been warned and the train stopped and unloaded? If the approaching train couldn’t be reached, is it run through the overhead electric lines? If so, could they have shut off power, stopping both trains in their tracks? Like I said, there are so many unanswered questions, but my main thought about this tragic accident was that somehow, it should have been avoidable and if it wasn’t, I sure hope they learn from this so it never happens again.

Or at least, I’m back home. It’s been months since I’ve been able to spend any part of a weekend (or a holiday) at home and I have to say, I’ve sincerely missed talking to you every day through my blog. Unfortunately, I’ve made a promise to myself never to get online while under the influence of prescription medication because ya never know what I might say–then not remember the next day… LOL So, I’ve been absent on my own blog since well before Christmas–since around Halloween to tell you the truth. It’s nice to be back.

So many things have gone on in the real world since the last day I blogged, I don’t even know where to begin with this blog post. I think I’ll just pick up from this weekend’s events and go on from there rather than dredge up things that have happened that I’ve wanted to comment on during the last few months.

For instance, the Vancouver Winter Olympics. I have to admit though I have no physical abilities–I can’t play sports to save my life–I love watching the Olympics. Every two years I tune in to the Olympics, be they the Winter Games as are going on now or the Summer Games. It doesn’t matter, I love them all. Every time the Americans race through the Moguls or fly across the ice, I’m practically sitting on the edge of my seats, my heart pumping, my hands sweaty, my knees locked in case I have to jump up and cheer. And every time we stand atop the winners podium, my eyes tear and a sappy smile tilts my lips. I have no idea why but I can’t seem to help it.

College Shooting: I really couldn’t believe it when I read about the professor who shot her colleagues during the meeting the other day. To bring the gun–loaded–to that meeting was premeditation never mind boldly shooting them then calmly walking out of the room, stopping at the ladies room to toss the weapon then proceeding out of building as if you don’t have a care in the world. What kind of person does that?? I can’t help but wonder if her killing of her brother all those years ago wasn’t as accidental as it seems considering all records of that arrest and investigation have disappeared. But that’s just speculation on my part.

My writing: Well the writing is coming along all though I’ve spent the last two days mostly resting and playing on Twitter. I plan to get back to work today but with the DH laid off–and spending all his time at home trying to talk to me–the writing isn’t going as quickly as I’d like it to. I’ve had a few stories ideas pop into my head over the last couple of weeks but until I’m satisfied with Ryan’s Hope and turn it in, I’ll have to put writing those on hold. I’ll keep you all posted about release dates and WIP’s as soon as I have something to say…

Catching up: I have a ton of catching up to do. From the thousands of emails sitting in my inbox–you really don’t want to know how many thousands–to sending out prizes that are owed, to trying to catch up with my promo teams, I’ve got a lot of work to do over the next few days and weeks to get my name back out there after my long absence.

Contest: So, to help do that–get my name out there–I’m offering a wicked prize to one lucky commenter on my blog today on this post. You don’t have to say anything specific or do anything hard. Saying hi is enough to qualify you. The prize: a $50 GC to either B&N or Amazon–winner’s choice–to purchase whatever you see fit. So comment, pass this link on. If you retweet this, one lucky tweeter will also win a $50 GC so spread the word and enter the contest today!! You all have until Midnight tonight (Monday, Feb. 15th) to post or retweet this. I’ll be posting the winner in the wee hours. Good luck!!

UPDATE: Winner announced: LOIS. Please email me at bonnieroseleigh@gmail.com with the email address you’d like your Gift Card sent to and whether you’d like one from B&N or Amazon. Once I receive your email, I’ll send the GC within 24 hours.

At 7:58 A.M. on December 7, 1941, the alarm went out: “Air raid, Pearl Harbor. This is not drill!” Later that morning, the magazine of the USS Shaw exploded after being struck by a Japanese bomb

Another Detonation
At 7:56 A.M., the USS Arizona was rocked by two explosions. “The bridge shielded us from the flames,” Pfc. James Cory said. “I think that at this moment I wanted to flee, but this was impossible. You’re on station, you’re in combat.”

Devastation
The wreckage at Pearl Harbor’s Naval Air Station after the attack, in which 347 U.S. planes were destroyed or damaged.

Casualties
The USS Oklahoma lies upside down in the harbor. “You did a little praying and thinking things,” said Seaman Garlen W. Eslick, who was for a time trapped aboard the ship. “We could hear the boys, some of them, in this one compartment next to us, and they were hollering for help for a good long time. There wasn’t anything we could do about it, and then they became quiet. They evidently drowned.”

Unavoidable War
On the next day at 4:00 P.M., President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the declaration of war, plunging the United States into the chaos of World War II.

The attack took place on December 7, 1941.

Although the aerial attack was very successful, the submarines failed to finish off any wounded ship inside the harbour.

The attack’s success surprised the Japanese as much as the Americans.

The last part of the decoded Japanese message stated that U.S. relations were to be severed.

The Japanese attack force was under the command of Admiral Nagumo.

Japansese force consisted of six carriers with 423 planes.

At 6 a.m. the first Japanese attack wave of 83 planes took off.

Nickname for Pearl Harbor is “Gibraltar of the Pacific.”

Eighteen U.S. ships were hit.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy,” in reference to the attack.

Three prime targets escaped damage, the U.S. Pacific Fleet aircraft carriers, the Lexington, Enterprise and Saratoga. They were not in the port when the attack took place.

Casualties included 2,335 servicemen and 68 civilians.

1178 people were wounded.

The day after the attack the U.S. and Britain declared war on Japan.

Pearl Harbor has 10 square miles of navigable water.

The harbour is on the southern coast of Oahu.

The harbour is artificially improved.

The attack was the climax of a decade of worsening relations between the U.S. and militaristic Japan.

A U.S. embargo on necessary supplies for war prompted the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Japanese planes took off about 90 minutes from Pearl Harbor.

The president at the time of the attack was Franklin D. Rooselvelt.

The attack brought the United States into World War II.

The Japanese fleet had 30 ships.

The Japanese were interested in the Hawaiian islands since the islands were annexed by the U.S. in 1898.

An admiral said, “leaving aside the unspeakable treachery of it, the Japanese did a fine job.”

Japanese suffered just small losses.

The Japanese deceived the U.S. by saying false statements and expressed interest in continued peace.

The attack was planned weeks in advance.

The main reason for the attack was over economic issues.

Because of the unpreparedness of the U.S. military, Admiral Husband Kimmel and General Walter Short were relieved of duty.

The attack severely crippled the U.S. naval and air strength in the Pacific.

Of the eight battleships, all but the Arizona and Oklahoma were eventually repaired and returned to service.

On December 8, 1941, Congress declared war on Japan with only one vote against it. The vote against it was of Represenative Jeannette Rankin of Montana, who had also voted against U.S. entry into World War I.

I think we all know why I’ve included a picture of Tiger Woods this week. I have to say, I’m really sick of hearing about this scandal though! Just sayin’…

I thought I’d try to post a new feature every Sunday…this week in images or photos. It could be a image or a picture that I saw during the previous week that had some meaning to me or was newsworthy in some way. Or it could just be a image that just spoke to me that week for some reason for that matter. Anyway, here are the images that have spoken to me this week:

(This one is here obviously because I’ve missed the premiere of New Moon because I’m in the hospital so this is on my mind. Besides, Rob is one gorgeous man and I could look at him for hours)

I’m firmly in the Team Edward camp–have been there since the moment I started reading the Twilight Saga books months ago. Though Edward’s love is almost too self-sacrificing, he would do nothing to harm Bella. In fact, he love’s Bella so much, he’s willing to give her up to make her happy, even if it kills him in the process. Whereas, Jacob hurts Bella emotionally over and over in his attempt to win her for himself through conscious choices and decisions he’s made along the way. Though Bella too has made some poor choices, it’s never been in any way to hurt another. She’s never wanted to punish Edward, even to make him suffer after he returns after their long separation instead wanting to ease his guilt and suffering, to set him free to be happy no matter what it might cost her later.

These books and movies are about the relationships, the romance and love between the characters, the tight bonds between the family member and pack mates. What makes family, family? The bond of blood? Of Brothers? Loyalty? Even the Vultori seem to have a form of brotherhood and bonding between them, even if it’s just the love of power that keeps them together. What binds you together with your loves ones?

So, as thousands or more likely millions wait in lines tonight to watch New Moon, I’ll jealously be lying in my hospital bed, waiting and pouting. Instead, I guess I’ll start rereading the series again, starting with Twilight. Each time I reread it, I’m constantly amazed at the depth of characterization that Stephenie Meyer showed. Her world-building completely astounds me each time I reopen one of her books. I’m hopeful that once I’m out of the hospital that at least the lines to New Moon will hopefully start to go down and that the wait for the perfect seat won’t be three hours away

Until Next time…
